Back again, folks!!
My new friend from the world of indie comics,

aka Justin Leach, hooked me up with an advance copy of his creation Majestic-XII #1 and asked me to review it. I was honored! So, after a long delay, here finally is my review of the issue:
MAJESTIC-XII from Odyssey Comics
review by RAHeight
Story Majestic XII tells the story of Legend, a golden-age superhero who served the United States government during WWII, who gets called back to duty after being retired for several decades. Legend has been appointed leader of a new team called Majestic XII comprised of a few old friends and a bunch of super-powered ex-cons with the mission of stopping an imminent alien invasion. Commanding the invasion is Legends old nemesis, Anthrax, who immediately challenges the new team to battle. Completely unprepared due to the warring personalities amongst the team and even Legends own awkward readjustment to the new status quo, fending off Anthraxs assault proves to be harder than they thought.
Art The art by Andrew Kilian is definitely entertaining. Although there is some stiffness in his figures here and there, I really enjoyed the all character designs and the sexiness of his female characters. He also did a great job with staying with the grid on laying out his panels and not trying to break them. With each issue I am sure were going to see him get even better, have more fun, and become more comfortable with every page. Omi Remalantes colors complimented Andrews art pretty well, also.
Overall If youre interested in getting into a new indie superhero story from the ground up, I highly recommend Justin Leachs Majestic XII #1. It definitely has a silver-age feel to it, which I love, and there are definitely some interesting characters within the story. You can really see in this issue that Justin is laying the groundwork for future storylines and dropping just enough info to keep you curious about the next issue. My only real critiques are that the transitions from scene to scene could be a bit smoother on both the artistic and the writing ends of things and I would like to see more establishing shots and backgrounds throughout the book. Other than that, Im ready to pick up issue #2!
